First off I wanted to thank everyone who has contributed so far. Recently I myself have been tutoring and caddying in order to raise some extra cash. I appreciate all of the donations.
Now I finally finished editing this movie through my busy school schedule, and I wanted to share it with my readers. Now initially I did not plan on making a video while I was on my vacation, it only came up as an idea when I was figuring out an efficient way to show all of my photos from my Spring Break. I want to be better equipped on my next trip, with a camera with better quality and does not die every 5 mins! Well anyway here it is, I know I can do much better especially when it comes to my trip to Italy.
Here are just a few of the many pictures of my 4 day visit to California, primarily a trip for college visits. It was extremely hard to see all what Lands End had to offer, but nevertheless Wild Wild West truly lived up to all of my expectations.

Mission: Jet Setter 2010

To jump start my life dreams of pursuing an art and science career I have taken advantage of a life changing opportunity to study abroad in a homestay for five weeks this summer. The country of my choice is Italy.

Italy, Italy, Italy! A country filled with an outstandingly rich culture of art, music, and academics. Italy, the birthplace of the the Etruscans and Roman civilizations, the Renaissance movement, and innumerable artist from Giovanni Pisano to Michangelo Buonarroti. During my stay, I will learn the language and culture of Italia. I hope to visit and witness the spectacular architectural achievements such as Brunelleschi's dome on the Florence Cathedral or the Gates of Paradise by Lorenzo Ghiberti or even the Pantheon from the powerful Roman civilization. Also containing some interest in fashion and music, I hope to explore the couture capital of Milan or wander Antonio Vivaldi's home streets of Venice. My journey here will be beneficial in exposing me to some of the most paradigm art, a field that I plan on professionalizing in, in some way, shape, or form.

The sponsor of the trip will be American Field Service(AFS), who has provided an awesome feature to aid in the fundraising process. Unfortunately I cannot say I am completely financially covered for my trip with the millions of other necessities required to support a hardworking high schooler (plus with college around the corner). On my blog I will be able to feature a safe and secure donation link that will send any contributions straight to my savings account for the trip! Because the cost of this trip is slightly hefty I will appreciate any and every contribution whether it is a penny, a million dollars, or even a digital camera. I myself am taking drastic measures to ensure my participation such as: selling clothes, applying for scholarships, and taking up several jobs.

There is no doubt that all of my journeys will be shared with you through my blog. Whatever your contribution is, remember that it is ultimately an investment in a future advant-garde of this world ! To sponsor my AFS program now, please click the ChipIn button. You could be the earliest patrons of an upcoming artist!

Who is Imhotep?

For those who do not know, I am a very ardent artist and one of the core themes of this blog is art. This year during my study of Art History, I have come across a myriad of interesting figures who shattered the every now and then adamant art world , but one historical figure in particular became the most impressionable: Imhotep.
He lived during Old Kingdom Egypt, which some of you may know is pretty much the beginning of art and written history ( with the exception of a few cave paintings and our beautiful chubby Venus of Willendorf). Not only did he live in the beginning of history, he created it. Imhotep was an artist, engineer, scientist, and much more.
You can think of him as the first "Renaissance man", but with a lot more grandeur because without him history would not have started where it has.
He created the scribes, a means to which people could record and depict ideas and historical events. He made great contributions to the advancement of medicine, to the extent that later civilizations such as the Greeks and Romans would exalt him as a god of health.

His most famous creation as an architect and vizier was the Stepped Pyramid of King Djoser in Saqqara, Egypt. Not only was this a revolutionary architectural feat, but it would also be the predecessor to the three Great Pyramids that continue to strike awe in present day eyes as part of the 8 wonders of the world.
This man was truly an avant-garde in his day.
Imhotep deserves the title of this blog because all of us should be like Imhotep. Well that sounds a little contradictory doesn't it? While I am goading my readers to lead the edge in the world I suggest that we should be like someone else, like Imhotep? Hmmm... Maybe a little better worded, we should search for our original idea that form ourselves into pioneers hopefully reaching greater heights than Imhotep.
